How can Hypnotherapy help you with fears and phobias?

Fears and phobias are a method of which our minds are trying to protect us. Sometimes that can go a bit wonky. A phobia is much more than fear and arises when a person develops an exaggerated sense of danger about a situation or object. The fear may not make any sense, but the person feels powerless to stop it. It can cause extreme anxiety or a panic attack. An example of a phobia could be if you were injured by a dog as a child, then you could develop a phobia of all dogs, regardless if it was a terrier for instance. Your mind might even translate a black bin liner in a dark park as a dog which then could trigger your "fight or flight" mode.

Examples of causes of phobias

  • Past events
  • Learned responses from caregivers or siblings

Some common phobias

Imagine if this could change. That you didn't have to be scared of dogs, driving, needles etc. That you could have control over how you felt about them? What would that look like for you?

How Hypnotherapy can help

Hypnotherapy can replace fear based thoughts with calmer more positive and confident beliefs around your phobia. It can help reframe past negative experiences and reduce their emotional impact. It can teach your mind to associate calm, happy thoughts and emotions associated with your phobia. It can give you back control over your emotions so it doesn't have to be an issue any longer.
